 When Thalía spoke to LATINA in August of 2005, she spoke at length about how her mother, who managed most of Thalía’s career, was her biggest champion.
“My mother put the seed in me that I was worth something,” said the Mexican star. “She told me, ‘Don’t ever let anyone step on you. It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting with the owner of a company or the president of a country.’ ”
Their relationship did suffer a blow in 2000, right after Thalía married Tommy Mottola, when she decided to take the management of her career away from Yolanda. As anyone familiar with the often-told Thalía story knows, it was Yolanda who, from the beginning, had been the force behind her daughter. After Thalía’s father died when she was only 5, Yolanda raised five daughters on her own and, in 1980, helped Thalía, the youngest, land her first gig with a band called Din Din. Years later, after Thalía’s musical career had led to one in acting, Yolanda found herself in heated negotiations with Mexico’s powerful, male-run Televisa network. She stood her ground—and walked away having made her daughter the highest-paid actress in Televisa history at the time.
The problem, Thalía said in 2005, was that her relationship with Yolanda had become too businesslike. “I wanted less manager, more mom.” she told LATINA. Their relationship did heal itself, with Yolanda just this year talking about how she couldn’t wait to be an abuelita again.

 The body of Mrs. Yolanda Miranda Mange, Thalía’s mother, who died last Friday at age 76, victim of stroke, will be transferred today (May 30) to New York to have a religious and intimate ceremony to be carried out by singer Thalía on Wednesday.
The last desire of the businesswoman was that the remains of her mother will be rested in the United States, revealed the Mexican designer Mitzy, a personal friend of the family.
In an interview to the Excelsior newspaper, the designer commented: “The fact that the remains will stay in New York was the wish of Mrs. Yolanda. She was living one long period with Thali and told him that if she died she wanted that her remains will stay there. It was always her wish and the same by Thalía, when she arrived on Friday at the funeral, she said to her sisters: ‘I came for my mother’. That one is the reason for which the body will be transferred to New York and there Wednesday will be the burial”.
Mitzy also said he was one of the last people to see Yolanda Miranda alive:
“We were together hours before her death and she told me the happiness that is upon her, so many good things she had in her life. She really radiated in happiness and was giving tips on how Ernestina go down the stairs with the wedding dress. I said we should go to Las Vegas to celebrate. At that moment I saw no wrong and we were even talking about the gold color blouse she was designing for the wedding of her daughter. I have here and I believe I will wrap it in a box and I will send it to Thalía”.

 With the death of their mother, Yolanda Miranda Mange, the meeting had not been given a chance in recent years between Thalía, Ernestina, Gabriela, Federica and Laura Zapata who meets in front of the body of Miranda in the funeral in the evening of May 29.

MEXICO .- At 14:00 the funeral mass started for Thalía’s mother, Yolanda Miranda Mange, at the funeral home where her remains are veiled, and are family and friends.
The singer, who declined to give statements, Thalía came around from 12:30 hours in a sand-colored Suburban with her husband Tommy Mottola, to be at the funeral mass for her mother, visibly upset and concerned by the situation.
